Nothing dresses up your curb appeal more than front door decor. October is a wonderful time to welcome those guest as well as those trick-or-treaters. Whether your theme is Harvest or Halloween, there are plenty of ideas to dress up the front entryway.

Harvest time is pumpkin time. October is ripe for pumpkins and falling leaves. Time to replace those mums on the front porch with pumpkins. They are available in all different colors and sizes so select the best looking ones and get busy.

Styrofoam urns spray painted black and fall leaf garland from the local craft store are placed around the pumpkins on display. No one said those pumpkins had to be plain orange. Pumpkins come in all shapes, colors and sizes. Just check out your favorite grocery or hardware stores for the deals. The wreath on the front door was created by purchasing a natural grapevine wreath and tucking in some purchased stems of leaves, pine cones and gourds from the craft store.

For those with young ones who still love the fright of Halloween, be sure to hit the dollar store for rats, black crows, tombstones, webbing and plenty of spiders to go with it. It doesn't have to cost much to add a little spook to your front walk.

Your entry and walkway should be ready for the trick-or-treaters who dare to approach on Halloween and it doesn't have to break the bank. Another great cost saver - hit those Halloween stores after the fact for clearance items for the next year. Happy Halloween!
