Fresh grapefruit in the middle of winter is a wonderful treat to help beat the doldrums. There's no better place for fresh grapefruit than in your favorite cocktail.
A little vodka. A little elderflower liqueur. Dash of bitters. And the star of the show – ruby red grapefruit.
It's such a sweet treat. Such a refreshing cocktail. Delicious tasting. Not too sweet. Just the right amount of tart. The grapefruit bitters gives this ruby red greyhound it's unique finish.
We order two bushels of freshly picked ruby red grapefruit every January and February from Pittman & Davis. It's a treat in the middle of winter. My father-in-law for years would send us grapefruit and we to this day continue his tradition.
I'm a big fan of the greyhound cocktail. Anything with grapefruit juice. Especially when it's fresh and sitting in your refrigerator waiting to be squeezed. I decided to expand on this traditional cocktail by adding a few things out of my liquor cabinet. I hope you enjoy.
