It's apple picking season here in Ohio and honeycrisp apples are a local favorite. These tart and firm apples promise to fill your mouth with juice once you bite into one. Luckily, you can find this sweet fruit in any local grocery store. Fall is the season!
These sweet juicy apples are a fall favorite in my household and we go through them quickly. I've been enjoying them in salads and my kids have gone crazy this fall making batch after batch of apple crisp. Those recipes will be featured on Home & Plate soon.

Honeycrisp Apple Quesadillas with Bacon and Cheddar
Makes 2. Total time: 10 minutes. Printable Recipe
- 1 Honeycrisp apple, cord and thinly sliced
- 4 pieces of cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 flour tortillas
Bring a large skillet pan to medium heat. Once the pan is hot, place the tortilla in the pan and layer on the bacon pieces, apples and cheddar cheese. Top with the other tortilla and cook for about two minutes or until the bottom tortilla is golden brown. Use a spatula to check often. Flip the quesadilla being careful to keep ingredients sandwiched between the two tortillas. Once the other tortilla is golden brown, your quesadilla is ready.
