Warm Apple Bake
Warm apple bake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is the perfect way to finish a meal. Or if you are like me, skip the ice cream and just savor the apples!
- 4 large apples, peeled, cored and pared into 1-inch slices
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Juice of half a lemon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 stick butter, softened
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Peel, core and thickly slice enough apples to fit a 9-inch pie dish or a 11 x 2-inch glass dish.
Add lemon juice, sprinkle with cinnamon, and toss to evenly coat. Whisk sugars, flour and cinnamon in a large bowl. Use your hands to get rid of any brown sugar lumps. Cut in the butter and mix until well incorporated.
Add the topping to cover the apples and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the apples and topping is golden brown. Let the bake cool until warm. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
