Enjoy summer’s sweet berries paired with the syrupy flavor of balsamic vinegar in your cocktail.
Sounds strange?
Trust me here!
There’s something about the taste of summer sweet strawberries paired with aged balsamic vinegar.
The vinegar definitely brings out the sweetness of the fruit. And it makes for a delicious summertime cocktail called the Smash!
The smash is a take on the traditional bourbon smash using vodka instead.
My husband is the bourbon drinker. I prefer vodka.
This cocktail is so refreshing on a hot summer day. Anyway you make it you have a winner.
As with any smash, there must be ice, (crushed is my first choice) fruit that’s in season and there must be some type of spirit.
I chose strawberries because they are plentiful and so sweet fresh from the farm. Peaches would also work well for this recipe.
As the recipe is called, smash or muddle the fruit in a cocktail glass with a little sugar to release the juices and add a splash of vinegar for punch. Add in your vodka and top it with soda water.
This refreshing cocktail is calling my name.
